Bylaws & Byways: Law & Anarchy at General Theological Seminary
Among the assertions made against the faculty has been that their initial letter asked for concessions that the Board of Trustees of General Seminary was unable to grant under its current governing structures.
J. David Belcher, a ThD student in liturgy at General, has undertaken a detailed analysis of several governing documents in seminary life, including the most recently published Constitutions and Statues of the Seminary, the Faculty Handbook and the Community Life Handbook, in addition to the accreditation standards of the Association of Theological Schools.
We find his analysis cogent, and believe it speaks for itself. We share it to the church and to the world here for their further consideration.
